Which civilization developed cuneiform language?

The Sumerians of ancient Mesopotamia developed cuneiform writing around 3200 BCE. This system of writing used wedge-shaped symbols impressed on clay tablets and was later adopted by various civilizations in the Near East, including the Akkadians, Babylonians, and Assyrians.
