Quickclot combat gauze is a sterile dressing

that is ready-to-use from the package. It is a temporary means of

controlling bleeding from a traumatic wound. One advantage is that

it will not stick to the wound, so that any clotting stays in place

when the bandage is removed. Kaolin is the active ingredient that

decreases clotting time dramatically, and has been shown to allow

earlier recovery in medical trials.
