How is data inputted into iPhone?

Data with most smartwatches are delivered via Bluetooth from a smartphone. You can see that data (ex: emails, texts), and can reply (with pre-set responses) as needed. To function, most need to be tethered to continue to get notifications. Some smartwatches that have cellular (data) connectivity can send and receive data without the need to be connected to a smartphone.
