The distance between the earth and the sun is approximately 92,960,000 miles.

So lets do some math.

In a really fast plane like the F-22 raptor, assuming we maintain top speed the whole way (1,500 mph) we end up with

92,960,000 miles divided by 1,500 mph = 61,973 hours of flight time

61,973 divided by 24 hour days = 2,582 days

2,582 days divided into 365 days a year = Seven years and 27 days (give or take)
