What's the difference between a villa and a chalet?

A chalet is a small wooden cottage in the hills, used as a vacation home. It may have a slanting roof. The wooden houses in the Alps are called chalets.

A villa is a Grand house with a large garden and many rooms. This is normally built by rich people in the countryside. The large sprawling suburban homes are called villas where they can decorate them in grandeur and entertain their guests with pride.
