Elephants have a wide variety of noises, including trumpeting with their trunks, but also make low rumbling sounds with their vocal cords (not their "tummy") that are subsonic and can travel for miles through the ground (they're seismic"). The sounds can be heard by other, distant, elephants through their feet and trunks.
These low frequency noises are called 'infrasound'.
