* Lack of life experience * Raging hormones * Desire to retaliate against parents and/or society * Bad parenting
To mature adults it's irresponsible. To kids it's recreation. They want to do what can be done to have fun. Adults do it because they want to have a life; have fun, experience other peoples points of view, not be aone. Kids do it because it feels good, and it's the in thing to do. If you're having sex with someone, you're more apt to be accepted. Besides, it's what parents do, so they're being hypocrytical if they tell them it's not right. They are really emulating adults, if you want to look at it that way. However, once in a while, there might be a couple who truly make good partners, are respectful of each other, are careful, and are planning a serious relationship as soon as they graduate high school! Yes, parents could and should sit down and have that heart to heart, telling their kids that unprotected, meaningless, illegal sex is not the way to go. But to single out what one thing causes irrational sexual behavior in adolescents, is like asking why do athletes take steroids; they believe they need to.
