Why do homeless people choose to live in cardboard boxes?

A cardboard box might be all that they have. Even some homless people rip off part of their home (the box) and make a sign, asking for money, food, etc.

A cardboard box provides a little protection from the weather and is a little warmer. They also give the person some privacy.
