Ghosts usually never want to scare you, so if you see one, calm down and try talking to it. A ghost might appear because:
1. It died unfairly such as murder and their murderer was never caught.
2. It has some unfinished business. That could include love, false accusations, family reasons, or to send a message.
3. It is confused. It is likely that ghosts of children are mainly confused and worried. Those who commit suicide may be confused and be unsure if they succeeded. That can become a problem if they possess someone without knowing it and assume they are still alive.
4. Some appear either to warn you or show you they are there.
5. They may appear for reasons related to love such as jealousy or protecting a loved one.
6. They simply died before their time.
7. Their soul may be damaged or deeply traumatized. Some traditions hold that spirits must have all their parts before they can continue their journey. So if a soul is fragmented, it may need to be reassembled before they can leave. An example would be if an abused or tortured child partially left their body and attached themselves to an object before being killed. So there is the part in the object and the part that left the body.
8. Guilt or fear. The person may have done something they feel in unforgivable, so they refuse to continue into the next life after they die.
