"Transportation industry" is a broad term which would include airlines, water transport, ground transport such as trucking, commercial transport such as cab and bus drivers and subway operators. With this vast of an all-encompassing industry the numbers of employees in the United States would be extremely vast as each individual method has massive amounts of companies within itself.
