How does Shasta Dam produce electricity?

Shasta Dam produces electricity through a process called hydroelectric power generation. Water from the Sacramento River is stored in Shasta Lake, and when released, it flows through turbines located in the dam. The force of the flowing water spins the turbines, which then convert the kinetic energy into mechanical energy. This mechanical energy is transformed into electrical energy by generators, producing electricity that can be distributed to the power grid.
