Well you need to know that stores like Subway are franchises, which means each store owner can set there own rules for dress code, sometimes these rules may or may not be in keeping with the labour code or human rights codes. Just like Starbucks and there attempt to thwart tongue piercing in there stores back in 93~94 in Vancouver, BC (That didn't work out too well for Starbucks). The best thing to do is to ask before you get the piercing done and use some common sense. Decorum dictates that if one employee has a piercing the others must be entitled to have piercings if they choose as well. However this can get carried away and an understanding must be set from the beginning as to how much is acceptable and what is going too far. Management needs to remember that employees are not possessions but leased help who have lives of there own, and when the work day is done they go and live there lives the way they want. So long as they attend work and are clean, sober and attired according to the set uniform plan that's as good as it gets. You need to discuss your plan with your shop owner, not the manager, the owner and get his or her approval then you can get your piercing without some one telling you to remove it for work. This way everyone knows what the plan is and can work together to set a piercing policy that is acceptable to management and staff.
