The thing about Great Expectations that makes it so unique, though boring, is that all the characters are bound by some link. For example, magwich, the convict, is the father of Estella, Mr. Jaggers has the business of taking care of Pip's "expectations", and also works for Miss Havisham, who adopted Estella. Furthur, Estella's mother works for Mr. Jaggers. Making something as complex as this while maintaining a story is difficult, which makes this book a good literary item, but in present times, very boring
