That is probably referring to internet Explorer. IE uses plug-ins, such as
Java, to allow it to interact with sites and the functions of the website. If a necessary plug-in is missing you may get that message, and the web site may not function or display things it should.
You didn't mention which plug-in is missing. If it is Java, you could try reinstalling it. I've been successful with that in the past.
