Which country controlled Tennessee land after the French and Indian War?

After the French and Indian War, Tennessee land came under British control as part of the Treaty of Paris in 1763, which ceded French territories in North America to the British. The region was initially part of North Carolina until it became a separate territory in the late 18th century. Ultimately, Tennessee would become its own state in 1796.
