You have several options:
- Contact the county Sheriff or Municipal Police Chief who administrates the jail and file a formal complaint.
- Contact the State Police and file a formal complaint asking to press criminal charges, especially if this mistreatment resulted in injury.
- File charges with the county or state prosecutor's office.
- File a complaint with the State's Attorney General.
- File a complaint with the Governor's office.
If after you have done these things and have gotten no results...
- file a complaint with the Federal Prosecutor's office.
- Contact the ACLU and enlist their help.
- File civil suit in your state's District or Circuit court for violations of your loved one's civil rights.
- File Civil suit in Federal District court for violations of your loved one's civil rights.
- Contact your district representative in your state and ask for an investigation.
- Contact you federal Representative and State Senator and ask for an investigation.
Most importantly, if the allegations are founded and can be proven with medical evidence, do not give up. You will be fighting one of the most powerful organizations in the country, but do not stop until you get satisfaction.
