You will need the following for this project:

-Ratchet

-Deep Socket (on my '97 4runner I needed a 10mm)

-New cylinder and Key

-Key for old Cylinder.

Condition of vehicle:

* No preparation required to begin project.

1:Start off by removing the four mounting bolts for the panel below the steering wheel.

2:next, simply pull on the panel until it has come free of it's mounting areas. NOTE:the gas-cap opening device, and hood opening device cables

will remain attached to panel.

Just lay panel on floor, it will not be in the way.

3:If your vehicle has the lighting ring around the ignition assy. than follow steps 4-5, if not skip to step 6.

4:Remove small plastic "pin" (at the "1 O'clock" position), from the side of the cylinder and luminous collar.

5:Slide Luminous collar off of ignition Cylinder.

6:Insert old key into ignition; Turn to the "ACC" position and leave there.

NOTE(7):You can use your new ignition cylinder to

push in the pin (located at the "6 O'clock" position on old cylinder) in.

7:While pushing in pin (see 'note(7)' above) pull on key (keeping it in the "ACC" position) until cylinder is removed. Some wiggling may be required.

8:Position new key in new cylinder, turn to "ACC".

9: depress pin at the 6 O'clock position.

10: insert new cylinder into housing.

11: re-assemble/install all panels as required.

12:Finished.
