Why do people put tints on a window?

There are several reasons people put tints on automobile Windows/windshields, including:

1) To block or reduce glare from the sun.

2) To block or reduce the effect of sun's ultraviolet rays on the skin

3) For privacy.

4) To help the interior of the car stay cool.

5) To help protect the interior of the car (i.e. upholstry) from cracking or fading.

Also, tinting supposedly will help hold glass together in the case of an accident. Experts disagree on this.

Some people think tinting adds beauty to the car.
