How did St Christopher use the gifts of the Holy Spirit?

A:In legend, St Christopher carried an extraordinarily heavy young child across a river, discovering afterwards that the child was Jesus. Christ was so heavy because he carried the sins of the whole world. Since Christopher, if he lived at all, lived three centuries after the time of Christ, this and all other legends about him must be treated with a grain of salt. We know nothing of the good works that he might have performed.

In the twentieth century, Catholic Church officials termed the stories of Christopher "legendary," but stopped short of asserting that he never existed or was never martyred in the early fourth century. It is hard to give up a popular saint.
