As biological processes are not thermodynamically reversible, life on Earth is not actually sustainable. Eventually entropy will get the better of us and life as we know it will not be able to exist.

For example, the Earth is due to "run out" of Carbon dioxide in about 500 million years (meaning that there won't be enough carbon dioxide for photosynthesis to take place).
