Should children be able to choose if they want to learn about evolution or creationism?

No. A child should accept that there exists a curriculum containing the basic elements of knowledge required for the child to make an informed decision about further education or career options. We don't let a child skip maths if he or she asks to be excused; we don't let a child skip physical education just because she asks - so why should we let a child skip Biology classes?
