Weight is not the only factor in giving blood. The exact restrictions depend on your country/state/county.

Typically to give blood you need to:

  • Be 110lbs (49.8kg)
  • Be 18 or over (less in some countries/states)
  • Have a blood pressure below 180
  • Not have a tongue, nose, belly button or genital piercing in the last 12 months (ears are fine)
  • Not have a cold, flu or other virus
  • Not have Diabetes
  • Not have a genetic condition such as cystic fibrosis
  • Have a meal 4 hours before donation (not required but recommended)
  • Not be a sexually-active homosexual male (blood of gay males could develop HIV)

Other conditions may apply or not apply according to regulations in your country/state/county of residence. You will be better informed if you directly asked a medical professional in your area.
