Do a minus and a minus make a plus?

In division and multiplication they do. for example: -2 x -2 = +4 but in addition you get rid of the '+' (-2 + -2 = -2 - 2 = -4) and in subtraction get rid of the last two '-'s and add a '+' (-2 - -2 = -2 + 2)
