Pins, like pieces of rope, come in many lengths. In fact pins come in many head types and weights as well as length - each designed for a different purpose and fabric. Straight pins generally range in length from. 1/2" to 2 1/8" long. A few examples:
- The common pin is 1-1/4-inches (Size 20For most project an all-purpose pin about 1-1/2-inch in length (Size 24) is perfect.
- For quilting, because you are pinning though several layers of fabric plus batting pins have to be longer. Quilting pins range in length from 1-1/2 inches (Size 24) to 2-inches (Size 32).
- To apply trim, a shorter length 3/4-inch (Size 12) is recommended proven the dreaded pin overlap)
