Can a person die by hanging other than asphyxia?

the question is a little too morbid for me but I'll answer it.

the only other way i could think of is if you sever your spinal column between your C1 and C2 vertabre. that would kill you instantly. it would only happen if a person would jump off of something and the force was strong enough to snap the neck.
