To safely change a dryer cord at home, first unplug the dryer from the power outlet. Remove the old cord by unscrewing the terminal block cover and disconnecting the wires. Connect the new cord by matching the wire colors to the terminal block screws and tightening them securely. Finally, replace the terminal block cover and plug the dryer back in to test it.
