How can you tell the difference between male and female cockatela?

Male cockatiels typically have brighter and more vibrant coloration, especially in their crests and markings, while females tend to have more muted colors. Males often display a more pronounced yellow face, especially in the cockatiel species known as the Pied or Lutino. Additionally, during mating season, males may sing and whistle more frequently, whereas females are generally quieter. Another distinguishing feature is the presence of a solid orange cheek patch in males compared to a more subdued patch in females.
