The 7 principles of the just war theory are:

- Last Resort: All peaceful alternatives must have been exhausted before war is justified.
- Legitimate Authority: War must be declared by a legitimate authority, typically a government.
- Right Intention: The intention behind the war must be good, such as self-defense or protecting innocent life.
- Probability of Success: It must be probable that the war will achieve its objective.
- Proportionality: The violence used in the war must be proportional to the injury suffered.
- Civilian Casualties: Care must be taken to avoid harming civilians during war as much as possible.
