Why did the Geneva conference fail?

The Geneva Conference of 1954 ultimately failed to achieve a lasting resolution for Vietnam due to deep-seated divisions among the participating nations, particularly between the communist bloc and Western powers. Disagreements over the future governance of Vietnam and the broader geopolitical tensions of the Cold War hindered consensus.
