What is an Exornati alumni?

Alumni exornati are, at least at the University of the South, graduates who, having lived long enough to attend the 50th reunion of their graduation, are 'embellished' on the occasion by being given a golden key and officially becoming an Alumnus exornatus. The latin term exornatus means 'adorned, embellished, ornamented'.
