Studies indicate that individuals with a family history of anxiety disorders may be at a higher risk for developing hypochondria. However, environmental factors, such as upbringing and personal experiences, also significantly contribute to its onset. Thus, while there may be a hereditary aspect, hypochondria is not solely inherited.
