Do magnetic trailer lights ground through the magnet?

Magnetic trailer lights have a protective coating on the magnets to keep them from damaging the paint on the vehicle being towed.
They also cannot make contact with "ground" through the paint, even if the protective coating was missing.
The answer is, no they do not ground through the magnet.
