What is a process?

In Business Management and Business Improvement circles the Process is a simplified way at looking at an area of activity of responsibility. The Process itself is considered to be the activity, or sequence of activities, that convert a set of Inputs into an Output.

The nature of the process can be anything from the delivery of a service through to the manufacture of an item. The definition of a Process is a really useful step in the understanding of our businesses or activities and allows us to define boundaries around what happens and who is responsible for what.
