What is the procedure for police when they receive an anonymous caller advising them there is a gun on a vehicle in motion?

If the report seems credible and the car and its direction of travel is given, a mobile unit will be sent to try and intercept it. If they locate it, a stop will be initiated and at that point the discretion of the officer on the scene takes over. If he feels it is warranted he wil conduct an investigation.
