Why do glass last forever?

Glass is often considered to last indefinitely because it is chemically stable and does not decompose like organic materials. Under normal conditions, glass is resistant to many environmental factors, including moisture, UV light, and temperature changes. However, over very long periods, it can slowly degrade or weather due to processes like hydrolysis, but this occurs on a geological timescale. Thus, while it may not last "forever" in a strict sense, it has an exceptionally long lifespan compared to many other materials.
