After the 3 card pass was made i ended up with all hearts and the queen of spades. when the 2 of clubs was played was it all right for me to play a heart or the queen on the first round?

In most card games, you generally follow the suit led if you have cards of that suit. Since the 2 of clubs was played, you should ideally play a club if you have one. However, if you don't have any clubs, you are allowed to play a heart or the queen of spades. If you had no clubs, it would be permissible to play either of those cards.
