Why is Hugh laurie quiting house?

Hugh Laurie decided to leave "House" after its eighth season to pursue new opportunities and challenges in his career. He felt that the show had run its course and wanted to explore different roles and projects outside of the character Dr. Gregory House. Laurie's departure also allowed him to focus on his music career and other creative endeavors.
