How can I fix this my hairdresser messed up my hair?

So school starts in a week and I am known for having super cool hair that catches your eye but doesn't make me look like a bad person. Basically, even the preppy kids want to know who I go to. My regular hairdresser just had her baby and is on maternity leave, so I asked one of her co workers to do my hair. NEVER GOING BACK TO HIM AGAIN!!!! I asked for and showed him pictures of just a little red and vivid purples, like an all-around choppy look, but he dyed my hair completely red, and barely even trimmed it up!!!! I look like a short-haired Danielle Bregoli!!!! I am seen as a student example and I can't go into High School like this!! The actual haircut isn't that bad, I can live with it, but the color is horrid!!! I am thinking about taking out streaks of red at home with the Color Oops Hair Color Remover, and then dying those streaks with Manic Panic Amplified Formula in Ultra Violet, but is that the best approach? Please help!!
