What happens if you leave the country without a passport and try to re enter?

They'll get really pissed off, otherwise, where can they send you?
To jail? No, then they would have to send illegal immigrants there too!
To some other country? Not unless you have duel citizenship.

I did it 2 years ago at the border in Laredo. They just whined and let me go.
