I can say that the "bath of blood" thing is a fairly common slander of unpopular eastern European rulers, and is associated particularly with Hungarian countess Elizabeth Bathory. It's not at all clear that she actually did this, though it does seem pretty likely that she was a rather unpleasant person who may indeed have tortured people to death... though that was pretty much par for the course in medieval Europe.
