What does this quote mean the great masses of the people will more easily fall victim to a big lie than a small one?

This is a quote from Adolph Hitler in Mein Kampf.

"The great masses of people will more easily fall victim to a big lie than a small one."

In essence, if you are going to tell a lie, go big, and do so to vast crowds. The effect will be that the more people who hear it, the more will believe it.

Let's try this mathematically:

Say old Adolph spoke to a crowd of 100 people and told a huge whopper. Now, 10% of those people believed it. That means ten people believed it. Okay, up the attendance at his rally to say 100,000 and only 5% of the people there believed it. That's 5,000 people who bought it.

The greater affect here is that the more people who believe something, the more effectively the agenda will move.

Hitler talked a lot about this concept of lying and lying big. He went on to say, "Make the lie big, make it simple, keep saying it, and eventually they will believe it." As unethical or immoral as this is, it is a Machiavellian philosophy followed by most governments of the world, today and throughout history; in essence saying, the end justifies the means.
