Hera threw her son Hephaestus off Mount Olympus because he was born deformed and she was ashamed of him. In some myths, it is said that she was angry that he did not meet her expectations of beauty and perfection. After his fall, Hephaestus landed on the island of Lemnos, where he was cared for and eventually became the god of blacksmiths and craftsmen. This act of rejection highlights Hera's complex character and her struggles with maternal expectations.
