What happens MBE Insignia after death of holder?

After the death of the holder of an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) insignia, the honor does not get passed on to heirs or family members. The insignia remains the property of the Crown and cannot be inherited, sold, or transferred. However, the deceased's family may continue to honor their legacy and the contributions that led to the award. The title itself remains a recognition of the individual's achievements during their lifetime.
