How do you cool down the tea in Pokemon fire red?

In Pokemon FireRed, you can cool down the tea by obtaining the Tea from an old lady in Celadon City. Once you have the Tea, head to the guard house near Saffron City and give the Tea to the guard blocking the path. This will allow you to pass through and continue your journey.
