How many years to become a marine veterinarian?

In the United States, you will need to complete at least three years of undergraduate college (most take four years), four years of vet school, a one-year internship and then probably another 3-5 years of residency/PhD work. These are very desireable positions but there are only a few dozen positions in the United States, so the competition is fierce and openings are rare.
