What will happen to the ocean if all the algae and plankton disappeared?

If all of the Phytoplankton disappeared the Eco-system of which it lived in would dissappear. This is because Phytoplankton is the producer in a food pyramid which means that it provides for all of the levels above. Even a Barracuda depends on Phytoplankton to feed ir's prey.
