Can PID be cured in one day in the hospital?

PID is treated in the hospital if a patient is unable to tolerate oral medications (for example, due to nausea); if she's pregnant; if she's not responding to oral medications; if the diagnosis is in doubt; and for some other reasons. When IV antibiotics are started in the hospital, the patient normally continues to take oral antibiotics after discharge. The standard treatment with oral antibiotics is 14 days.
