How do turtles fertilize?

Turtles do no get pregnant but after breeding (internal fertilization) the fertilized eggs with develop shells. At this point the female is gravid (as opposed to pregnant) because she will lay her eggs once they are formed and the embryos will develop and hatch in a nest.
