You can sometimes find free dogs or puppies in your local news papers. Be wary of taking a free dog. Make sure you meet the owner and spend some time with the dog before bringing it home. You are on your own when you take a free dog from someone you don't know. It can often be better to spend a bit more money to adopt a dog or puppy from a shelter. Dogs from shelters will already be spayed or neutered, have had their required shots and in many cases have been evaluated to determine that they are safe for adoption. A free dog may have many hidden costs that will come to light further down the line.
