BAck in the early 20th century Just a few years after I got my first wagon licence a fellow Called Henry Ford decided that to reduce his production costs all his cars would be one colour and that would be black. Black was cheap paint.

Since most cars were then black, every manufacturer provided a base colour of black. Most of the more expensive cars had optional colours.
